1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
There are some who are misled into thinking of a Christian “ living in sin.” But this is not the case. We have received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness ( Romans 5:17) thus we are “ dead to sin” (Ro 6:2)
The fact that the Christian is dead to sin we then cannot live in sin because we are freed from sin ( Ro 6:7 )
Romans 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
A Christian cannot live in sin BECAUSE he lives is Jesus Christ. He may commit sin, but he can’t live in it because he is dead to it.
The Holy Spirit puts the Christian in Jesus Christ and when He does, he is identified with Christ’s death on the cross. When Christ dies on the cross, He became “ sin for us” ( 2 Cor 5;21). It is your sin nature which is dead with Christ.
Romans 6:6 “our old man” ( Adamic nature) is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
This is the Christians position in Christ.
The Christian’s flesh is a dead corpse and anytime the flesh raises his ugly head, he wastes time serving the flesh, resulting in the loss of rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ. It is important to know that the Christian will NOT lose his salvation though.
Ephesians 5:5-7 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. [ the unsaved ] Be not ye therefore partakers with them [ the saved ]
Colossians 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. – the inheritance is an ‘earned’ reward.
“serve” – works. No reference indicated to salvation.
Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ... - in one hand the apostle Paul is telling you that unsaved people will not inherit the kingdom of God because they are not saved. In the other hand, he is saying that saved people will not inherit the kingdom of God even if they are saved. Neither in those two places is there a reference to heaven. The kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven are NOT the same.
Galatians 5:19-21 – The “works of the flesh” is a reference in the saved man.
The church age here and now a man is born into the kingdom of God John 3:5 … Except a man be born ... he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
The Lord will return and set up the millennial kingdom [1000 year reign ] on earth, the kingdom of God is then visible. John 3:3 …Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
The new birth enables a man to enter the kingdom of God here in the church age and to see it in the millennium. The distinction is - Enter now, see it then. This is what is called an inheritance and is an earned reward.. It is NOT salvation as salvation is a ‘FREE’ gift.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
This verse speaks of unsaved people and shall not inherit the kingdom of God. The apostle Paul names them as people, fornicators idolaters …drunkards extortioners…
In Galatians 5 the apostle Paul doesn’t name them as people but are the names of ‘works’ – things that people do.
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
I do not condone drunkenness nor endorse that it is alright for a Christian to do because he won’t lose his salvation, but I have heard it said that “no drunkard will not get into heaven” that isn’t even in Galatians 5.
Christians that do those things will NOT inherit the kingdom of God, he will not get a millennial inheritance BECAUSE it is an EARNED REWARD.
Have you ever told a lie since you got saved?
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. According to that verse all liars are going into the lake of fire! A Christian can tell lies but doctrinally he is not a liar.
A Christian is a Christian. who lives in Jesus Christ. Amen.!
